There are many users who prefer to play a movie with the very simple MPlayer because it is compatible with a wide range of video formats. It will play a movie and nothing else. SwiftPlayer works on the same principle. It is very simple and lightweight, but it can recognize any video format. It lets you view any movie, either in full screen or windowed mode, which you can not do with MPlayer.

SwiftPlayer can be installed in less than a minute, by running a 7.33 Mb setup file. Additional codecs or drivers are not needed. You can play any movie immediately after installing the software. It is not expensive and if you find and report a serious bug, you can get a free license.

The interface only contains standard playback options, volume control and other basic functions which you can find in any media player. You only have to load a video file and enjoy the movie. The software can handle any popular or less known formats, including FLV files.

There are other players which are compatible with many video formats, but they usually drain a computer's resources. In some cases, if you load a larger video file, it will not be rendered correctly, the system may lag or it can even freeze. The same thing can not be said about SwiftPlayer. Even with modest hardware, you can load an HD movie and it will play just fine.

Pros

SwiftPlayer will not entangle you in complex options. It will only play video files, which is all you really need. Although it looks very simple, it can play even high resolution, HD videos without slowing down your computer.

Cons

When running the trial version, a large registration button is placed on the title bar. This can hinder you when moving the window. Using SwiftPlayer, you will never have difficulties with video formats. Regardless of what type of video file you load, the program can play anything, even on low end computers.
